Jesus Is the Reason For This Season!

Hello and Happy Holidays to everyone reading this right now.

Here at the Tabernacle of Faith, we want to remind everyone that Jesus is the Reason for this Season! Please join us this Saturday for our Watts World Revival’s Annual Toy Give Away, Preceded by our very own Youth Church’s Christmas Play! Our annual give away begins early and all who are inside for the Christmas play will be in line first for the give away. Be early as this is always a packed house!

We also want to invite you to worship with us this Sunday for our Pre-Christmas Service, and also to join us on Christmas Day for a special Christmas day Service starting at 9:00 a.m.

This Sunday, all Services are at their regularly scheduled time. Each year around this time, we adorn our altar with flowers in loving memory and in honor of our loved ones. If you bought poinsettias they will be ready for pick up, immediately following morning worship service.  Just in case you’re unable to make it to church to worship with us This Sunday, below you can still read The Tab for 3rd Sunday, December 18th, 2016.

The New year is quickly approaching and we are hoping to see you in 2017!

We are looking for people to join our Media Ministry and help promote what all we have happening through our church. We have several places where you can volunteer, from writing for MyTabNow (this page you’re on right now), to recording weekly services in our Soundroom, to Video Recording Services and uploading those videos to our YouTube channel.

Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church has been serving this community for over 72 years. In October of 2016 we celebrated 72 years of ongoing ministry here in Watts & Los Angeles area. If you are looking for a church home and want to serve this community alongside others, we look forward to welcoming you. Please check our website for regularly scheduled services.

If you’ve been away for any reason, please drop us a note to let us know how you are doing. Let us know what is happening with you and your family.

We want to wish everyone well during these holidays, and remember Jesus is the Reason for the season!

Hoping You All Had a Happy Resurrection Sunday

Hope you all had a Happy Resurrection Sunday.

Pastor Leffall stated that the Music was Most outstanding.

Deacon Jason Weatherall was in attendance, at the helm of the sound board and was sure to record Pastor Leffall’s special Resurrection Sunday Message. We will get that message up for you soon.

For all of you who were unable to be in attendance, here is a Copy of our Special Resurrection Sunday Tab – Featuring our dedications to the Memory, and the Honor, of our loved ones.

Resurrection Sunday Tab, April 20th, 2014, Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church, Los Angeles California

A couple of people have asked about the “Live Streaming” – so here’s an update on that. We need a lot more equipment than we currently can afford at this time. Our church is pretty big and on Sundays, there are so many people who bring their devices into the sanctuary that our current wi-fi camera, and wi-fi range, is simply not strong enough to handle all of the traffic. Our live services were being bumped ‘off’ the air. This was a minor setback, which simply let’s us know what else is needed to achieve the goal. Stay tuned as there are plans to test out Live Streaming for some of our Weekly Services here at the Tab; such as our Monday Night and Tuesday Night Bible Studies.

We are also looking for people who’d like to help out with our Media Ministry.

We are looking for people who’d like to cover the services and special events happening at our historic Church, here in Los Angeles. We are looking for people who are social media friendly and are willing to learn how to use it, to help spread the word about the Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church. We are celebrating our 69th Year of Ministry – and under the leadership of our Pastor, Dr. Reginald M. Leffall, III, our goal is to win souls to Christ.

Upcoming events:

Our 26th Annual Women’s Prayer Breakfast happens this Saturday, April 26th – with our guest Speaker Rev. Dr. Damali “Najuma” Smith-Pollard, from Christ Our Redeemer AME Church, in Irvine, California where she serves as their Pastor of Family Ministries. No Breakfast will be served after 9:30 – please get there early. More information is on our Flyer (From the Related Post)

Also coming up, our Annual Women’s Day Service. Also, our Annual Mother’s Day Service is approaching. We will begin taking submissions for dedications in Memory or in Honor of your Mother this coming Sunday.

As always you are encouraged and invited to attend any, and all of our regularly scheduled Services; You were missed if you were unable to be here for Resurrection Sunday, but we do hope you had a blessed one.

Also, we hope to see you here soon… here at The Tab!

Our Website Updates and Upcoming Events

You may have noticed there have been some website updates that have helped to make our site a little more alive.

Now, when you visit The Tab Online you will be greeted with videos from our YouTube channel. More and more videos will be added into our home page playlist. We do encourage you to subscribe to our channel as more Services that have been recorded will be making their way onto our channel. Also it’s a good way to help spread the Ministry of our church – through using the social media platforms that YouTube provides. If you see or hear a song or a sermon that you enjoy, share it with others.

To make it easier to share our website with others – we’ve added several social sharing buttons to the home page.

tabhome_mar14

A while back we added a link and a few selections from our Soundcloud Channel. At this time we’re limited to how much content we can put on the soundcloud channel.

So, on behalf of the Media Ministry I am pleased to announce that very soon, We’ll have an Audio and Video Section of the website that will allow us to view, share and discuss the good news we are hearing, and sharing about the power of Jesus Christ.

That brings me to the upcoming Events that you’ll want to put on your calendar. Starting with our 26th Annual Women’s Prayer Breakfast. Our guest speaker this year will be Rev. Dr. Damali “Najuma” Smith-Pollard, Pastor of Family Ministries at  Christ Our Redeemer, AME Church, located in Irvine CA.  She was a speaker in previous years and you do not want to miss this Prayer Breakfast.  You can purchase your tickets (donation $35.00) from any of our committee members. If you’re in the Los Angeles Area and want to attend this event, be sure to reach out to us by Calling our Church during regular Office Hours (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)

Below is a Flyer of the upcoming Event with more information.

26th Annual Women's Prayer Breakfast

Take a look back at a re-cap from a previous Women’s Prayer Breakfast – and stay tuned for more information about this upcoming Service!

We just held our Annual Tabbette’s Musical this past Sunday, and have a very special Mission Emphasis this coming 5th Sunday.

Mark your Calendars, and we do request your attendance at any of our upcoming Services. We look forward to worshiping with you.

Live Streaming Update for October

We are working on adding Live Streaming to our Website, to broadcast our Weekly Morning Services here at our historic Church.

During our first attempt to do it live, during 1st Sunday there was an error which occurred, and caused the feed to drop.

Here are a “short clip” from that Service.

Today I ran a live test, and recorded while playing the CD from 2nd Sunday’s Service.

The test went very well, no problems and as of right now I’m looking at 3 hours of uninterrupted Streaming. So this coming Sunday we will attempt to Stream Live during the Morning Service – Please pray for us!

“Listen” to 2nd Sunday’s Service, with Rev. Gregory Perkins-Bowen delivering the message “Pray For The Preacher”

For now you can learn more about our Live Streaming on our Website here….

The Tabernacle Observes 69th Church Anniversary

The Tabernacle Observes 69th Church Anniversary

The Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church is in the midst of a month-long Observance of its’ 69th Church Anniversary.

Organized in 1944 by the late Reverend F.D. Ferrell and 38 visionary “Christ like Charter Members”, who were inspired to organize a church and call a Pastor. The seeds of faith sown now m ore than 69 years ago have blossomed and Tabernacle stands as a strong “Religious Tower” within the Watts Community, our city state and nation.

Thus on this significant milestone, the current members are in the spirit of thanksgiving and celebration, thanking God for the multitude of loving kindness to us as a body of believers in Christ across these 69 years.

Longtime members Deacon Bruce and Sister Robin Hall-Turner are serving as Co-Chairs for this Church Anniversary.

The most timely theme is:

“THE CHURCH REBOOTING TO SERVE THIS PRESENT AGE”

Luke 5: 4 & John 17: 9-19

The sub-theme 4 each Sunday “Remembering our Roots — Moving Forward”.

Dr. R.M. Leffall the Senior Pastor kicked off the Observance on the first Sunday with a special message entitled “On The Same Page”, and on that afternoon a special Vesper Service was held at with one of the son’s of Tabernacle Rev. Anthony Spottsville, Pastor of New Beginning Baptist Church, guest minister. The Ordinance of The Lord’s Supper was administered at the Service.

On the past Sunday, the Reverend Gregory Perkins-Bowen preached a powerful and most inspirational message entitled “Pray For The Preacher”. This Sunday, October 20th at 3:30 p.m. there will be an All Choir Musical Service.

The Culminating Service will be held on the 4th Sunday, October 27th at 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. will be our Evening Service. The Rev. Shane B. Scott, Lead Pastor at the historical Macedonia Baptist Church will be the guest Minister. He will be accompanied by the Choir, Officers, Ushers and members, said a spokes person … “Pastor Scott is one of the nations most gifted and dynamic proclaimers of God’s Word.”

A Special invitation is extended to former members as well as friends to attend any or all of the 69th Church Anniversary Services. The Church is located at 11328 South Central Ave, in Los Angeles. For additional info you may call the church at 323-569-4162 or view our website mytabnow.org

ReCap of our Annual Women’s Day Service for 2013

Annual Women’s Day

Written By First Lady Dr. Maye H. Leffall

The “TAB” observed its Annual Women’s Day Service on Sunday, May 19, 2013.  A most timely theme was:  “Women of Faith Anchored in the LORD, and Positioned for a Changing World (Jude 24-25).”  We were truly blessed by an inspiring, dynamic message by Dr. Sandy Scranton-Lee, Professor at El Camino Compton Center and Director/Administrator of the Heavenly Vision Educational Center.

The Women’s Day Chorus provided a Spirit-filled Service in Song under the capable, zestful direction of the Rev. Gregory Perkins-Bowen, Minister of Music; Bro. Nathan Christopher, Pianist/Accompanist; Brother Lawrence Crenshaw, Percussionist; and Sister Constance Hayes, Chorus Director.

The “2013 Woman of the Year,” Sis. Velma Walker, was presented to the Congregation with warm reflections, by Sis. Jackolyn King, former Woman of the Year (2011).  The Committee’s recommendations submitted for the 2013 Honoree were ably coordinated by Sis. Alberta Williams.

There was also a “Special Salute” honoring Dr. Gwendolyn Smith-Taylor, who served for many years in the Music Ministry of the “TAB,” particularly in the sharing of her gifts with the Women’s Day Chorus.  Sis. Natalie J. Fisher beautifully expressed our heartfelt sentiments in her presentation of Honoree, Dr. Smith-Taylor.

The Committee consisted of Co-Chairs, Sis. Constance Stanley and Sis. Maye Helen Leffall,

and a fine cadre of Captains and Co-Captains who gave active and dedicated service in the planning; and made excellent financial reports.  We thank God for EVERY PARTICIPANT; for the presence of EVERYONE; and for ALL who CONTRIBUTED to a great day of WORSHIP, PRAISE, and CELEBRATION.

JOY AND BLESSINGS!

First Lady’s Corner

Quotes chosen by First Lady Dr. Maye Helen Leffall

Attitude Changes Everything

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.  Attitude is more important than facts, than the past, education, money, circumstances, failures, successes, than what other people think or say or do.  Attitude is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill.  It will make or break a company, a church, a school, a home.  The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.  We cannot change our past or the fact that people will act in a certain way.  The only thing we can do is to be in charge of our attitudes.   Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it; and so it is with you … we are in charge of our Attitudes.”

Charles Swindoll

“Your attitude and mine are always our choice.  No matter how bad things are, no one can force you to have a bad attitude, if you don’t want to, and vice versa.  That’s really good news because it says that our attitudes don’t have to be the victims of our circumstances or of other people.  We choose our responses.”

                                                                Mary Whelchel
